I am you, I hope you are me
November 10 - 28
Opening Reception: Wednesday, November 27th, 6-8pm\
Artist statement:
"I Am You, I Hope You Are Me" aims to celebrate and acknowledge collective femininity through processes dedicated to stillness and intentionality. Combining acrylic painting and large format photography, this exhibition examines the language of clothing in terms of personal identity, social connotations, and imbued meaning. This series documents a feminist investigation of projected identity and gender expression through clothing. The featured paintings are an introspective look into the artist’s relationship with gender codes through both realism and abstraction. Similarly, the photographic works function as indirect self-portraits where the artist deliberately chooses admired women in her life as models, dressing them in her own clothing as a reflection of herself. This way of working highlights the shared experience of women recognizing themselves in one another, and being fundamentally shaped by these encounters.
