March 11 - 22

Reception: Saturday, Mar. 15th, 2pm

This exhibition is an overview of my art practice from 2013 to 2024. It is a juncture for me to examine the thread that holds these various works together. My work over the last 11 years hasbeen a steady increase in the use of texture and form.

In the infinity series 2013-2015, I broke free of the rectangle. This group of paintings was inspired by Galileo’s use of the triangle in his quest to define infinity.

The Tipping Point series 2016 expands the use of the triangle and investigates the moment of change. These paintings examine the precarious balance of our global situation.

In 2020 I began to fold the canvas and fragment the internal shapes to explore the effects of reflective colour with an ongoing untitled series.

Through this increasing use of texture and form, I hope actively engage the viewer and narrow the gap between painting and sculpture.

Artist Bio:

I am a third year BFA student at Mount Allison. Before moving to Sackville from Ontario, I was a member of the Propeller Centre for the Visual Arts in Toronto. I showed regularly at Propeller including two solo shows in 2014 and 2011. I participated in numerous juried shows across Ontario from 2004 to 2016. In 2014 I initiated and co-curated “Occam’s Razor”, a science inspired juried art exhibition which was shown at Propeller and The Ontario Science Centre. Receiving two Ontario Arts Council Exhibition Assistance Grants provided funds for the production of 2 solo shows. It was exciting to receive the Cherry Carnon Award in the “Next” 2015 a juried exhibition at the Arts and Letters Club in Toronto. I enjoyed instructing many drawing and painting classes for the cities of Oshawa and Pickering from 1997 to 2014.
