Call for Exhibition Proposals: Installation
Theme: Immersion
Installation week: July 23 - 26
Duration of exhibition: July 30 - September 10, 2024
Deadline to apply: Monday, March 11, 2024 - 11:59pm (ADT)
Struts Gallery is seeking proposals for an exhibition/installation that fully considers and transforms our gallery space. Located in a 120-year-old building worn by time, our gallery is well used and versatile, with white walls, a weathered ceiling, and a painted grey tile floor. The space is functional but not precious. It offers a unique layout with vast potential for physical, psychic, or conceptual alteration. We invite proposals from artists and artist collectives based in the Atlantic region to create an immersive environment in our space. Successful applicants will spend the week of July 23-26 installing the work while living in our artist accommodations above the gallery.
We’re interested in ambitious projects that change our visitors’ perception of the gallery, envelope the viewer, and/or create opportunity for meaning and dialogue to emerge. We are open to new or previously exhibited work from a broad spectrum of mediums and approaches. Works that incorporate analog or digital video, sound, performative elements, ritual, interactivity, sculpture, sensorial stimulation, architectural intervention, or contemplative ambiance will all be considered. For those who are interested, Struts Gallery has an extensive collection of media arts equipment available for artists’ use.
Struts will provide:
Artist fee according to CARFAC exhibition rate
Per diems for a 4 day install
Accommodations above the gallery
Travel expenses

Promotion and documentation of the exhibition
