October 1 - exhibitions, residencies

Struts is a site for the engagement of contemporary, artist-initiated activities such as exhibitions, performances, demonstrations, workshops, symposia, residencies, screenings and so on. Struts also encourages a wide range of project proposals including publishing projects, site specific or public installations and time based practices that can be facilitated through project grants from various sources. We programme activities throughout the year both inside and outside of the gallery space. The multi-purpose facility maintained by Struts accommodates many diverse artist-initiated activities. The center provides a professional environment for artists to present work in a non-commercial, non-museum venue. Struts has also established Faucet Media Arts Center which provides digital video production facilities to its members and visiting artists.

Faucet is dedicated to enhancing the media arts in New Brunswick through workshops, screenings, exhibitions and affordable access to production equipment. Faucet is a member driven production facility affiliated with Struts Gallery, an artist run centre. We have developed our web site as a venue for the online exhibition of media art works and are seeking proposals for new projects.

EXHIBITIONS
Proposals for artist-initiated exhibitions, inside or outside of the gallery.

PUBLIC ART
Proposals for a site specific or public installation.

OPEN STUDIO
Artist-in-Residence Programme
Each year Struts Gallery hosts a series of artist residencies in our Open Studio Programme. Each artist-in-residence spends a month in the gallery continuing their practice in a public venue. The artists present talks on their work, studio visits and other public presentations as well as workshops related to the work they are engaged in. The artist is paid an artist fee and provided with a per diem and accommodations in Sackville; travel costs are covered by Struts. There is also a budget for advertising, workshop supplies and documentation of the residency.

EASE DOWN THE ROAD
Faucet Media Arts Centre Emerging Media Artist-in-Residence Programme
This residency program offers artists with little or no experience with media arts the opportunity to produce a work at Faucet. Although we are unable to pay fees at this time artists are provided accommodations, technical and critical support and access to production equipment and facilities. This residency is by invitation only, however, we do encourage any interested artists to get in touch with us.
