"Everyone has been to a salon at one point or another, and is thus familiar with the implements of teh trade of hairstyling. This familiarity with the arifacts of hairdressing creates a space that is recognizable, yet in the case of the in-home salon, one that is contained within the private realm of the home, creating a public space within the home where friends, neighbors and strangers are invited into teh home as clients. These photographs explore that space, and the aesthetic quality of the salon in the form of traditional portraiture"
