I didn’t put the poster on the blog, but I wanted everyone to know that The Snow is Gone Lets Move on BBQ, the Reversion to the Original Point lecture and the How to Draw the Future collaborative animation party all went very well.

Here is the result of our collaborative animation:

As you can see the future does not look bright(lots of explosions UFOs and Robot arms), but I would like to thank those who participated anyway:

Bucky Buckler
Lianne Zannier
Jowl Carr
Alicia Steves
Tara Wells
Evan Rensch
Stephanie Wierathmuelller
Clare Elson
John Hudson
and probably some other folks too, you know who you are.

Thanks.

And thanks to everybody else who attended and participated in the question period of the lecture. You’ve helped to start a dialogue which legitimizes the emerging science of Future Archeology.

Its been a long long time since my last post.  My excuse is that I had been busily preparing animations for my lecture at the S.A.G.S.R.I.(suitcase art gallery space research institute) Forum at  the Khyber ICA in Halifax on May 10 this past weekend.

miniposter.jpg

I have proof that it happened.  As you can see above what I am writing right now.  There is a little poster saying the name of the event and the names of those people involved and all of the information you would have needed to locate the event if you were so inclined.

Also, If you look below what I am writing right now. You will see a digital photograph of the even actually occurring.  From left to right you see Mike, Ryan, Justin, Myself and Amos as we are on the verge of lecturing.

Some friends of mine in Halifax, Geordan Moore and Heather Allen were kind enough to to let my girlfriend Clare and I stay at their place for the night while we were in town. Geordan is actually pictured in the above photo, and after seeing my presentation he asked me about how I achieved the look of the metro-car moving through the air.  So I put a little visual explanation together which you can see below what I am writing right now.

Next week, I’m thinking Thursday or Friday I’ll be holding an event in Struts Gallery where I will give a talk very similar to the one I gave in Halifax last Saturday and it will have content very similar to that shown in the Quicktime movie above what I am writing right now.  So when I finish this(blog post) I’m going to start drawing a poster and I’ll probably be posting that poster on this blog before you know it with more details about this event I’m planing.

So that’s all for now.

What was I doing all last week? Drawing frames for this as yet unfinished animation. This is the NB-jumper, a conveyance for moving people from low density rural areas to where the work‘s at: probably some God-awful moonscape.

I see this happening circa the year 2193:

Some Texan venture capitalist with a halfcocked idea for an antigravity mass transportation system goes to the government of Quebec requesting massive subsidies to run the pilot project there. The reaction on the part of the Quebec government is poor, “We would have to be crazy to try such a radical new transportation system!” they say. “You should go down to New Brunswick, they’ll try anything”, and added as if to sweeten the pot: “tell them we’ll sell them some old cars from the Montreal Metro for dirt cheap to help get’em set up”.

So our venture capitalist goes down to Fredericton where he gets a meeting with the Premier who’s just a young fellow in his late thirties. The venture capitalist learns all about what a rough time the folks in New Brunswick have been having lately, especially after the whole petroleum thing went bust. The premier told him how without the planes or trains running people haven’t been able to get to their God-awful moonscape where they’re taking this or that lucrative mineral out of the ground.

So then our venture capitalist tells the Premier all about his halfcocked idea for an antigravity mass transportation system and how its fast and cheap, and how it will use the existing network of radio-towers to shoot energy-beams at the cars and throw them like a ball on a tether. Then he tells the premier how the government of Quebec will sell them a bunch of old cars from the Montreal Metro for dirt cheap. The reaction from the Premier was very positive, “We would have to be crazy NOT to try such a radical new transportation system!” says the Premier, and he had his picture taken in front of an old car from the Montreal Metro the very same day.

TO BE CONTINUED…

studio

Hi Mom,

We haven’t been up to much else except working in the studio. I’m trying to get a little sequence of animation done and then I’ll post it on my Blog. You should check out the Struts Gallery web page… it features me prominently at the moment. Its crazy, there are so many people I know here in Sackville and I’ve got a ton of work to do so its hard to fit everything in. Clare and I are going to drive to amherst today to buy groceries; the save-easy here in town isn’t so hot.

that’s all for now,
love,
Dustin
